Background story: Mossy sloths are a vital part of the ecosystem, they carry moss, spawn and seeds in their fur and pollinate trees, plants and moss throughout the forest areas. Depending what kind of moss they carry will determine the colour of their fur.
Because they are a relatively slow creature who prefers to stay out of the sunlight, sometimes the moss will actually grow on their fur. Mossy sloths are found in mostly dense forest areas like Tall Trees and Kalatha.
Also another doll that I had many requests for, the sloth. I was always a little hesitant to make a sloth as they were already quite popular and I didn't want to seem like I was jumping on the bandwagon, so I waited until the it died down a little. I always wanted to make a sloth that was inspired by moss, so I figured the first sloth doll I made should be a mossy sloth.
I decided to give her red eyes as I feel there is some mysteriousness in them and I feel it compliments the green fur.
Sphagnales has a resin face and claws that were cast from an original sculpture hand crafted by me. Her body is made from Mongolian faux fur which was designed and sewn by me, she has a wire armature inside making her fully poseable, her face was painted in acrylic paints and furred by hand for a seamless transition.
Sphagnales is approximately 20x15cm head to tail.
