The Great Forest Stag is something of mythical legends, it is very rarely seen and only appears around those who need help. The stag has the ability to heal with it's tears, but will only produce tears for those with a pure heart. It swiftly moves through the trees with it's iridescent green and brown antlers glistening in the light, taking the appearance of the forest itself with it's brown coat covered in moss, leaves and plants. Because of it's coat, it is very difficult to see and blends into the surroundings perfectly.
As this stag is a mythical being, there is only one stag known in existence, no one knows where it came from or how old it is, but legend has it the forest spirit Kodama created it to helps those in need. The Great Forest Stag is found in the thick forests of Kalatha on the mainland Nanclendara.
The second doll from my new stag sculpt and I just couldn't wait to make another one! Just like the first stag doll I made, I used the plastic antlers I found a while ago, but this time I decided to modify them a little. I wanted to add some raised patterning to them, so I mixed up some Apoxie Sculpt and let my hands take control. I ended up adding some swirls and dots to the antlers but nothing too over the top. And again this doll has the ball and socket armature inside giving the doll a different weight and feel to it. I wanted to go for something a little different and try to steer away from the plush type feel to it and go for more of a sculpture feel, adding artificial plants and mosses to the body.
Shinrin has a resin face and hooves were cast from an original sculpture hand crafted by me. His body is made from thick faux fur which was designed and sewn by me, he has a plastic ball and socket armature inside making him fully poseable, his face was furred by hand and painted in acrylic paints.
Shinrin is approximately 40 x 35cm head to tail.
Shinrin may or may not be up for grabs in my Etsy shop this Friday between 9-10am AEST, I'll keep everyone updated on my Facebook and Instagram.
